High Pressure Test Vessel
The test centre's hydrostatic pressure testing is achieved in the facilities high pressure hydrostatic pressure vessel. The pressure to vessel size and capability is one of the most advanced in the UK and attracts hydrostatic testing work, under contract, internationally.
The pressure vessel is custom built, with a metal o-ring sealing system and uses a RESATO HPU-115-2/B/A/S pump.
Specifications:
- Maximum pressure 700Bar
- Chilled water fill, and external chiller jacket enables unit under test to be maintained at temperatures down to 2 degrees C
- Internal dimensions: - 750mm diameter, 1800mm depth
- Overall weight 12 tonnes
Subsea equipment deployed at up to 7000m-depth is subject to pressure 700 times normal atmospheric pressure (700 Bar) and temperatures of around 2 degrees C. This High-pressure test vessel enables Oceanlab to simulate these extreme conditions on land to fully test subsea equipment before deployment in the ocean - 'Onshore proving for Offshore technology'.
Electrical Pressure connections can be utilised to control the device while under high pressure. Up to six electrical ports are available which can be configured to accept most subsea connectors.

Run by dedicated staff with a high level of experience in hydrostatic testing and high standards of safe practice, the certificated testing service has supplied the oil and defence industry sectors for the past four years.
