David Bailey
David Bailey left in May 2004 for a 2-year secondment to Ken Smith's lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego, and will return to Oceanlab in mid-2006.
The Long Time-series Undersea Surveillance (LOTUS) project is funded by a Marie Curie Outgoing International Fellowship (European Commission, Framework Programme 6), and will utilise a range of technologies to assess spatial and temporal variability in deep-ocean communities. David's main interest is in deep-sea fish biology, and while at Scripps he will undertake a range of physiological and ecological studies comparing deep- and shallow-water fishes, including studies of foraging behaviour, distribution, muscle performance and anatomy.
