Wave 1, the oldest and most mature, and parts of 2, show complete fixation locally on the windward as well as the leeward side, after general erosion has ceased (Fig 5). Communities dominated by heather and crowberry occur on the windward face. Fig: 5 also shows the high watertable in the hollow behind wave 1 on the horizon

Erosion and fixation ocurr repeatedly and locally, both in the bow and in the flanks until the whole dune has been dispersed or reduced to a few feet above water level.
